MUSKEGON, MI — The Forest Hills Northern girls golf team wrapped up its 2025 postseason campaign with a determined showing at the MHSAA Division 2 Regional 8 tournament. Competing against some of West Michigan’s top programs, the Huskies placed seventh overall with a team score of 399 (+111) at Lincoln Golf Club. Senior Chaille Payne once again proved to be the anchor of the lineup, carding a stellar round of 78 (+6) to second individually among all competitors. Payne’s consistent play kept her near the top of the leaderboard all day and highlighted her reputation as one of the premier players in the region. Reeths-Puffer’s Sophia McCollum narrowly edged Payne for medalist honors, also shooting a 78, with the tie broken on a playoff tiebreaker. Payne’s round placed her comfortably within the qualifying range for individual advancement to the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals at Bedford Valley. Behind Payne, Forest Hills Northern’s young roster continued to gain valuable experience at the championship level. Competing against powerful regional teams like Spring Lake, Reeths-Puffer, and Sparta, the Huskies showed strong team chemistry and steady improvement throughout the fall season. The Forest Hills Northern Huskies close out the 2025 season proud of their growth and resilience as a team, with Payne’s qualification for the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals serving as a fitting reward for her and her illustrious career as a Husky.
