Girls Tennis Earn MHSAA Regional Championship

The Forest Hills Northern girls tennis team delivered a dominant performance at the MHSAA Regional tournament, capturing the regional championship with 29 points and advancing to the state finals. The Huskies had representation in all 8 championship matches taking home regional championships in 5 out of 8 flights. Forest Hills Central finished as team runner-up with 22 points, followed closely by Muskegon Mona Shores with 19. Leading the way in singles play was Senior Harriet Ogilvie & sophomore Audrey Kowatch, who claimed the 1 singles and 4 Singles regional titles. Sophomore Avery McKenzie earned a strong second-place finish at 2 Singles, while senior Aanya Dogra placed also placed second at 3 Singles. The Huskies were especially dominant in doubles competition. At 2 Doubles, the team of senior Ava Targosz and sophomore Sadie Wolfe captured the regional championship with an 11-5 record. Forest Hills Northern also earned titles at 3 Doubles with senior Hailey Pfeiffle and sophomore Hayla Messelink, and at 4 Doubles with senior Maddie Decker and freshman Mercedes Acevedo. Northern’s 1 Doubles pairing of Amelia Paul and Natalia Acevedo added valuable team points with a runner-up finish. With the regional championship secured, Forest Hills Northern now turns its attention to the MHSAA State Finals, where the Huskies will look to build on their outstanding postseason momentum.
